Familiar hits and original songs will weave a tapestry around our short documentary where you will meet Joe’s Mom and Dad, Sarge & Shirley West, America’s first Black Country Western duo. Using the power of music and their infectious humor, they pioneered through the racial intolerance of their time. You will also meet Robin, Joe’s wife, who refused to allow cultural expectations to thwart her from marrying the man she loved. And lastly, two of Joe‘s talented children offer artistic and powerful expressions compelling viewers to embrace the beauty of acceptance.
